How three matters were resolved
The Challenge
A will that was questioned
An elderly Thai man had drafted his own handwritten will, but after his death two of his four children raised concerns about whether it met the legal requirements under Thai law. The family was in disagreement, and no one had appointed an administrator.
What We Did
We reviewed the will, advised the family on its legal standing, and represented the estate through probate proceedings at the Bangkok Civil Court. Throughout the process, we communicated with all four children to keep them informed, regardless of their initial positions.
The Outcome
The court confirmed the validity of the will. The estate was administered and distributed within seven months of the initial instruction. The family, though it took time, reached a point of acceptance — something we hoped our impartial approach had helped.

The Challenge
An estate spread across two countries
A British national living in Bangkok died without a Thai will in place, despite owning property in both the UK and Thailand. His wife, who was Thai, was unsure what her rights were under Thai law versus English law.
What We Did
We advised on the Thai portion of the estate and referred to a trusted UK solicitor for the English assets. We managed the Thai probate process, transferred property titles, and prepared a summary in English so the client could coordinate with both legal advisers easily.
The Outcome
The Thai portion of the estate was resolved within five months. The client described the experience as far less daunting than she had expected, given the complexity involved.

The Challenge
Planning ahead while in good health
A couple in their early 60s, Thai and Japanese nationals, came to us wanting to set their affairs in order while both were still healthy. They had adult children in different countries and assets in Bangkok and Osaka.
What We Did
We prepared separate wills for each spouse under Thai law, covering their Bangkok assets. We also advised on how the Japanese assets should be handled and flagged the importance of a separate Japanese will for those. The consultations took place over two sessions, spread across three weeks.
The Outcome
Both wills were completed, executed, and stored safely. The couple left knowing that their Bangkok assets were accounted for and that their children, wherever they lived, would face a clearer process when the time came.
